What is meta? ×
Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 131 Stack Exchange communities.

Note for down-voters :D: This is a very case specific question, more like Jeff's proposal for merging Developer Testing & programmers. Though I'm totally against it.

Also, this should not be confused with the "feature request" for proposals merging.

Feeling the need for merging Area51 proposal is obvious even amongst the SE team themselves, check Joel's post here. So I'm proposing here the merger of all the agile-related proposals on Area51 into on "All-Agile" site, specially that each individual one of them isn't getting much momentum alone. Here's the agile sites list on Area51 (there are other candidates but those are the most obvious ones):

http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/7794/scrum

http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/15585/lean-agile-software-development

http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/16601/agile-software-development

We really don't want to break these discussions out of Area 51 so we are working on better facilities to have these conversations in the correct place. Your example sounds reasonable but its going to take a bit of time to create an effective venue to handle these issues. –  Robert Cartaino Sep 25 '10 at 0:31

Are you kidding me!? Until then what should we be doing, stadning still.. So why then Jeff's proposal is there, coz he's Jeff!? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/65439/… –  Shady M. Najib Sep 25 '10 at 9:38

Also, why there's a "Area51" tag here if it's "Off-topic"!!!! –  Shady M. Najib Sep 25 '10 at 9:41

I find it odd that a discussion of merging several technical Area51 sites is off-topic, while a discussion of merging music sites is on-topic: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/65176/… –  azheglov Oct 1 '10 at 18:21

Just realized that Scrum and lean proposals were closed/deleted.. –  Shady M. Najib Apr 17 '11 at 9:38

I agree that all such aproposals should be merged into one Agile & Lean umbrella site. Such site could include discussions on Scrum, eXtreme Programming, Kanban, and various hybrid methods.

Doesn't lean fall under Agile? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lean_software_development –  Shady M. Najib Sep 24 '10 at 18:33

1. No. 2. Experts debate relationship between Agile and Lean a lot. Some say they are very different. Others say Agile & Lean complement each other. Anyway, Scrum and XP fit under Agile nicely, but situation with Lean is more complicated. I wouldn't name a site on the assumption that the taxonomy of all these terms is cast in stone. –  azheglov Sep 24 '10 at 18:46
