Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

There seems to be an issue uploading images from at present.

I'm pretty sure it is a problem with so I doubt anything can be done here.

It is quite annoying as there is no backup plan if isn't available. You just can't upload pictures.

Ok it appears you can display images from an existing URL using the img tag - which I forgot you could use.

It would be nice that if the upload fails it would prompt you to do it the "old fashioned" way.

"You just cant upload pictures." Well, that's how it used to be until August 13 :) – balpha Oct 4 '10 at 20:07

You just cant upload pictures.

A rainbow can upload images wherever you want and link to them here. You just have to type the markup (or HTML <img> tag) yourself, as the toolbar button is now limited to doing imgur uploads.

Markup: ![alt text](image_url "mouseover") – Rebecca Chernoff Oct 4 '10 at 20:40
The easiest way around imgur is to use Ctrl-L to link to the image, then prefix the link markdown with an exclamation mark. – badp Oct 5 '10 at 7:45
