Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

What is the benefit of using the preview just below the question entry box? I don't see any.

The preview window shows the final outcome of your html-coded post. It lets you test if your post will be displayed alright.

So that you immediately see how your super ninja formatting is not being parsed correctly, enabling you to make it less super ninja without having to press a Preview button?
