Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

When I try to ask a question, I receive the message:

Oops! Your question couldn't be submitted because:

Sorry, we are no longer accepting questions from this account.

And strangely when I logged in on Ubuntu everything was fine. What's the problem?

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

There are numerous posts about the error message you're seeing; see these questions. (Not voting to close, though, because of the second half of your question.) – Pops Dec 6 '10 at 19:53
You can't ask new, instead improve the quality of previous posts – random Dec 6 '10 at 20:00
@random but look at the guy's contributions. How are they bad enough to justify a blocking? – Pëkka Dec 6 '10 at 20:27
@Rejoice It's possible he had other posts that are now deleted – Michael Mrozek Dec 6 '10 at 20:55
@Michael yeah. I would really like to be able to see deleted posts – Pëkka Dec 6 '10 at 20:58
@Rejoice 20k ability? – Michael Mrozek Dec 6 '10 at 20:59
@Michael good idea! It's probably too late to make a dent there anymore, but I'll add it nevertheless. – Pëkka Dec 6 '10 at 21:00
There's no deleted post. If I wanted to delete I would delete that -7 post. – kvphxga Dec 6 '10 at 22:40
My account has been banned from asking questions again for the 4th time ... Stack need to do something about this ... its irritating – Yatin K Jul 21 '12 at 6:15

I suspect you're logged in as a different account on your Ubuntu box than on your Windows box, and the account you're logged in as on the Windows box has been banned.

My username and reputation number and all other things on Ubuntu are the same as Windows. Except that I cannot ask. In addition, If it is banned why I can log in? – kvphxga Dec 6 '10 at 19:57
@kvphxga: Banned from asking questions isn't necessarily the same thing as banned outright. But it's odd if you're seeing the same reputation etc... – Jon Skeet Dec 6 '10 at 19:59
This is again a case where - judging from the content visible - the "bad questions" filter has blocked a user who doesn't really seem to deserve it (There is one -7 spike but the overall quality of contributions looks pretty decent). I'm all for blocking users who ask bad questions, but I hope the team know what they're doing here – Pëkka Dec 6 '10 at 20:23
