Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 153 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Possible Duplicates:
Should 'Hi', 'thanks' and taglines and salutations be removed from posts?
What is the etiquette for modifying posts?

I see a lot of posts that begin with a salutation and end with some variation of "thanks". Part of me wants to constantly edit these to remove the salutations and possibly add an actual question. However, I wanted to check with you super-users on your thoughts.

Consider the following examples. The origional:

Hi!

I'm trying to get my gizmo integrated with Microsoft Sprocket Studio in F#. However the override module is returning 1.

All help appreciated, thanks!

And an edited version:

I'm trying to get my gizmo integrated with Microsoft Sprocket Studio in F#. However the override module is returning 1. How can I debug this error?

Is performing this type of edit when possible an acceptable practice? Or would doing so create too much noise on SO and other SE sites?
