Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 155 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I thought the four spaces were supposed to do this. And they do, unless there is a bullet point right before them. How can I make this work?

Example:

  • Here's some XML:

Yay! I knew this was a duplicate. And I found it: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/34292/… – jjnguy Feb 1 '11 at 18:57

You need to intent by 8 spaces. This is a known bug/feature

  • See what I do:

    <ThisWas indented="8 spaces" />

Also, you can 'break out' of the list using an xml comment or something similar

  • See what I do again:
<ThisWas indented="4 spaces" but="I put an xml comment between the two" />

So there's no way to "break out of" the bullet point, short of inserting a paragraph? – romkyns Feb 1 '11 at 18:46

@rom, do you want the xml in the bullet, or after? – jjnguy Feb 1 '11 at 18:46

@rom, either way it is kind of hackey. (See my edit) – jjnguy Feb 1 '11 at 18:49
