Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

What to do with acceptance?

The answer may be an url or document and I have to study it first as it is going over my head.

Can I leave it alone for an unkown period and accept an answer when I understand?

EDIT: Without putting a bounty on it, a questions stays unanswered for an infinity length of time.

I would simply leave a comment thanking the answerer and letting him/her know that you are going to report back once you've taken a look at the resource.

IIRC, question askers can comment on any answer to their questions. That might not even be necessary. – Jeff Mercado Feb 12 '11 at 21:29
Thanks for the correction! – Closure Cowboy Feb 12 '11 at 21:34
+1 from me - don't feel forced to accept an answer until your comfortable that it actually answers your question =) – Rob Feb 12 '11 at 22:54
