Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 155 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Occasionally, I see this message:

Service Unavailable

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

This is not a duplicate report, as I have noticed this error message even when there is no downtime. Reloading the page works normally (and quickly). However, it does not seem right that I am getting this message even though Stack Overflow has not slowed to a crawl.

There was a performance problem earlier with search on /users causing a lot of extra load on our servers, we are addressing it now.

Search on these pages will be disabled for a little bit while we fix the performance issue.

Update: this was fixed, and search is now re-enabled, and faster than ever!
