Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The tag was used for a wide range of topics:

  • file permissions
  • member access modifiers
  • access violations
  • MS Access
  • anything related to authorization
  • file I/O
  • ...

I went through those questions and retagged them. Can we ban this tag now?

They seem okay on SciFiFantasy – random Mar 24 '11 at 20:09
@random: I do not understand. What do you mean? – wcoenen Apr 8 '11 at 15:00
After a day or so users who don't have tag creation rights won't be able to use it. Those that do can re-create it, but should really know better. Seriously. – MPelletier Apr 8 '11 at 16:05
@Mpelletier: the [access] tag is reintroduced every day, so perhaps it never gets at the point where new users cannot use it. In any case, you only need 250 rep to create new tags which isn't very high. – wcoenen Apr 8 '11 at 16:55
Access is creeping back again. I wonder is it possible to have certain ambiguous tags just default to nothing? – Remou Aug 9 '12 at 14:20
