Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 130 Stack Exchange communities.

Suddenly my Stack Overflow reputation went down to 1 from 379, and I cannot see the reason for this from my reputation page, I mean there's no -378 entry. But when I click this link, I can see that my reputation is still 379. What's the explanation of this? Or is this some kind of an early April Fool's Day activity?

That looks weird indeed. It's normal behaviour if an account gets suspended but that's not the case in your case. –  Pëkka Mar 31 '11 at 8:40

May be recalc your reps at http://stackoverflow.com/reputation

Many of your answers have been flagged as spam.

Where are the best explanations of memory management for iPhone?

Learn Obj-C Memory Management

Memory Management in Objective-C

What is the best URL or book about memory management in Objective C?

Objective-C/iOS : Message sent to deallocated instance

-100 for each, so you reps is now 1

I am not sure those are spam, and I didn't flagged it as such, IIRC.

+1 This seems to be the reason. The three identically worded posts with an external link probably triggered the spam detection mechanism –  Pëkka Mar 31 '11 at 8:48

Am I not allowed to post the same answer to different questions? If the answer was not related to the question, I would understand that but it's completely related and I don't see the point here. –  davsan Mar 31 '11 at 8:49

@davsan, I think the real issue that make people think it is spam is you are answering on old questions like from 2009 or such. and there is outbound links, and yes, same answers on multiple questions could cause as such. –  YOU Mar 31 '11 at 8:50

But I had nothing in my mind like that. I've found a good link and wanted to share it with people that wanted a related help. It may be from 2009 but people are still getting help from old posts. Do I have a chance to revert this? Because otherwise I'll lose all my motivation about SO. –  davsan Mar 31 '11 at 8:53

@davsan although it was probably done in good faith, you have to admit that posting links on year-old questions to a tutorial created by somebody in your own home town looks a bit fishy. Anyway, do E-Mail team@stackoverflow.com and ask for the flags to be lifted –  Pëkka Mar 31 '11 at 8:54

@davsan, could you post new question for that case, and explain that those are not spams, I think there is some moderators would come out to revert those if they agree. –  YOU Mar 31 '11 at 8:56

You won't believe it but I didn't know the guy writing the tutorial was from Istanbul until you said that. I had nothing in my mind like advertising this guy's website. But I shouldnt be blamed for this because most of the links that other people provide are from US and nothing happens to those people for just posting these. Do I have a chance to convince people that I'm not a spammer? –  davsan Mar 31 '11 at 9:00

@Pekka & YOU: Should I post a new question here? And just say that I did not intend to spam? I e-mailed team@stackoverflow for providing me a clarification but now I know the reasons. So maybe now I can send one more email for explaining myself. –  davsan Mar 31 '11 at 9:03

OK, I will do that then. Thanks for your help guys, hope I can correct this :( –  davsan Mar 31 '11 at 9:12

@davsan, even if it's not spam, please also see Are answers that just contain links elsewhere really “good answers”? (I cannot see the content of deleted posts; just to be sure.) –  Arjan Mar 31 '11 at 9:22

True, @davsan, when keeping in mind these are Q&A sites, not help forums. (But: you might very well be right, I cannot tell.) –  Arjan Mar 31 '11 at 9:33

Why would the -100 for spam not be noted in his reputation link? Is this a bug? –  Gabe Mar 31 '11 at 10:38

Shouldn't most of these posts be closed as duplicates? –  marcog Mar 31 '11 at 10:49

I voted to close the first four as either dupes or NARQ. –  Pops Mar 31 '11 at 15:24
