Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Why doesn't the total reputation on stack exchange necessarily match that of stackoverflow? For example, right now, I have 3009 on SO, but 2990 on stack exchange.

Stack Exchange reputation is just cached, now you can see it 3009 on both.

Yeah, but my question was, why wasn't it like that at the moment I asked this question? – sawa May 4 '11 at 7:07
@sawa, hum, answer is because of the cache when you see that time. You can ask for feature-request to remove the cache on the another new question, if you don't like that. – YOU May 4 '11 at 7:08
I reloaded the stack exchange page several time, but it didn't help at that time. – sawa May 4 '11 at 7:09
@sawa, its not your browser cache, its the cache inside the system. – YOU May 4 '11 at 7:09
Actually, this page… still shows 2990. – sawa May 4 '11 at 7:11
@sawa, thats a league, more caching there, could be need to wait a day or more – YOU May 4 '11 at 7:11
So it just takes time? I can live with it, but how come it's that slow? – sawa May 4 '11 at 7:12
@sawa, yeah .... – YOU May 4 '11 at 7:13
