I've been reading about some problems regarding hooking up a custom domain with an SE site, and that the guys at FogCreek are creating an instruction sheet that shows what to do to not run into trouble. So should we wait a few more days with that?

I would say that you should go ahead and set up your site, seed it with content and get to grips with the system, but absolutely do not publicize it until those problems have been fixed, hopefully in the next revision. You only really get one shot at stimulating interest in your site, bloggers simply aren't going to pick up on a site that has already been discussed on other blogs last week, it is old news by then. For that reason, you should officially launch your site with a big bang but don't do that until you know that the resulting wave of users will be able to login and stay logged in, you simply aren't going to retain their interest if such an important aspect of the site doesn't work. Again, these issues are being worked on and, hopefully, will be fixed by the next revision. |

As I understand it, the new "primary domain" feature that the new beta testers got should fix this. Perhaps Aaron can comment? |
