Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Why does the combined participation flair not update at the same time that Stack Overflow specific flair does? I imagine because the combined would have to perhaps query multiple databases.

Does combined flair update more frequently the less Stack Exchange site you belong to, or is this like a X times a day thing? If so, what are the update frequencies for respective flair types? Or is not a pull, but a push; a change of score triggers it in some manner perhaps?

I have seen this answer btw. I'm looking for more detail though. Also, not complaining, just curious how the system works.

I have also found that while StackOverflow flair works perfectly (and is very timely), the network flair seems to take weeks. – Scott Wilson Jul 31 '11 at 7:28
