Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Just noticed the "meta user" link under the picture and reputation on the Stack Exchange user's page. It doesn't seem to work for all users. Error is "Page Not Found".

  1. Not working: SPSE user / Meta SPSE user
  2. Working: SPSE user / Meta SPSE user

My guess is this is because they've never logged into the meta site.

This is true. A meta user account is not created until user actually visits the meta site. – Robert Cartaino Jun 29 '11 at 1:54
the link shouldn't appear unless the user has a meta account, and you won't unless you have actively visited meta – Jeff Atwood Jun 29 '11 at 2:40
@JeffAtwood and yet that user has such a link. – jcolebrand Jun 29 '11 at 3:05
@jcolebrand Yep, that's why this meta post exists – Alex Angas Jun 29 '11 at 3:36

This is now fixed, we fetch a list of which users exist on the meta every 5 minutes, if they're on the list they get a link on their profile.
