Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

If a beta Stack Exchange site is about to get deleted, will users be given any advance notice, like an e-mail? Such notice would allow users to save some of the better posts before they get deleted.

When a beta site gets closed, a data dump of all of the posted questions and answers is made available. – Robert Harvey Jul 11 '11 at 16:35
To my knowledge, for each of the sites that did get deleted, it was approached differently. I think Gadgets got a fair warning, Atheism was kinda already recognizing it as was AI, but How Stuff Works apparently was sprung pretty swiftly. I think we'll need official word for this one. – Grace Note Jul 11 '11 at 16:41
Oh cool - is there an archive of old beta sites that did get deleted? – InquilineKea Jul 11 '11 at 16:46
