2 days ago comment added Emil Jeřábek @cocomac I don’t know of a bug report specifically concerning the “Greatest Hits” page (of whose very existence I wasn’t aware until this Meta post), but there are many reports about this truncation issue in other contexts (mainly in search results): meta.stackexchange.com/q/197817, meta.stackexchange.com/q/217389, meta.stackexchange.com/q/286456, meta.stackexchange.com/q/291382, meta.stackexchange.com/q/293488, meta.stackexchange.com/q/304383, meta.stackexchange.com/q/360956.
2 days ago comment added Ben Kelly StaffMod @cocomac From my point of view, this is a legitimate preexisting bug, but our team does not have the bandwidth to address it currently, so it is (for us) status-deferred. I don't know if there is an existing meta post already, but I'd imagine there must be.

added 22 characters in body
Jan 13 at 16:14 comment added Ben Kelly StaffMod The new component is using the same body truncation function as the old code, so as you say, this is preexisting. Text truncation tends to be a much harder problem than it appears on the surface, so these types of issues are not uncommon. This issue is not something we plan to address as part of this work.
