When you go to add experience on your Careers profile the field for Organization is actually called "Location," leading Chrome's autocomplete to believe that I used to work for a physical place. For example:

Chrome autocomplete on the organization field

Admittedly this is fairly minor, but the field should probably be called something like "Organization" to avoid this. There's also the issue of this form being repeated in the source multiple times (once per experience item), resulting in various elements with the same ID attribute, but that doesn't actually cause any usability problems.

  • Definitely not a "bug". At some point you have to stop worrying about non-standard about browser behaviour, especially when the problem is such a minor one. If this were a show-stopping bug preventing people from using the site in Chrome, then maybe it would be worth changing the name of the field.

So you're saying there's more than one place to work in Delaware? I thought it was, like, the size of my back yard or something.

@meagar I don't entirely disagree with you. But, since the site also uses a field called "Location" for physical location in multiple places, including on the same page (which is where those autocomplete entries came from), it does seem kind of symptomatic of improper field name choice.

@mmyers Well, you can work by the sandbox or under the large oak. There are always options!

@PopularDemand: There's always time for Rhode Island later. It doesn't take long to get through Delaware. rimshot

I can see this being reasonable if it applies some validation. For instance, it should probably reject "Michigan" on the grounds that there's no evidence of any employment opportunities existing there.

Apparently, there is a 'The Delaware Company' place of employment. Wouldn't dare post the gaudy link for fear of throwing myself under the spam-hammer. Joking aside, Tim's right. It should be changed from "Location" to "Organization". I'd wager it could be changed in less time that it takes @balpha to draw a narwhal...
