Today you clearly pointed out that there is a blog by adding a new link on the topbar: toolbar on SO

So as an interested user I clicked the blog link and woops, I got redirected to what initially looks to me like a whole other, unrelated website. My idea is to either remove the blog link from the topbar (and put it somewhere else), or put the topbar on the blog aswell.

Wouldn't it be possible to include the topbar and portalLink on the blog? It redirects to http://blog.stackoverflow.com/ so why shouldn't it be?

I'm confused as to why you need the topbar to be convinced that you are on a SE site? It's still a subdomain of stackoverflow.com. – jonsca Aug 9 '11 at 10:06
  • It's just something you get used to very easily. Blame google+ and their topbar :-) I experience a more comfortable feeling when my trusted reputation and notification indicators are visible everywhere. Imho it should at least be visible across the sites on the same domain. – Peter Aug 9 '11 at 10:11

I suppose I understand what you are saying, since if you press any other button on the top bar, you're taken to a page with the top bar. At the same time, you can easily look at the address and/or use the back button and be right back to where you were. – jonsca Aug 9 '11 at 10:20

It is a different website, but it's not "unrelated". You clicked on a link that says "blog" and you were transferred to a website with what looks like blog entries. Not sure where the confusion arises... – Cody Gray Aug 9 '11 at 10:28
  • I think its just since google+ that I've come to expect and like to have my information displayed on every site of the network. With the stackexchange network it just feels weird that it's not there (on the blog). Maybe it would even be better to just move the 'blog' link somewhere else. – Peter Aug 9 '11 at 11:39

I wish that friggen new would get burninated after clicking on it. Can I has a cookie? – Won't Aug 9 '11 at 12:36
  • @Won't: They seem to have fixed this. It was there again just now, I clicked it and the 'friggin new-blog-post span' faded away :-) – Peter Aug 10 '11 at 11:22
