Possible Duplicate:
How was this answer posted after this question was closed?

So, I went to answer a question, and managed to get my answer in. However, it turns out that the question was closed - and it was closed some time before my answer made it.

Time of question closure Time of answering

Either there's a weird edge case bug that allows someone to answer a question 35 seconds after it's closed, or my answer took precedence over the closure. I find this to be very unusual and inconsistent.

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

  • You were writing the answer before the answer was closed. So you could submit the answer after closing. – rekire Jan 5 '13 at 20:32
  • @rekire If thats true, then why does it pop up "no new answers may be added" while in the middle of writing an answer when the question gets closed? – Austin Henley Jan 5 '13 at 20:47
  • @AustinHenley, turning off JS / having network problems fixes that right up. So does altering the DOM to re-enable the disabled button. Not that I've done that before, oh no, certainly not. – Charles Jan 5 '13 at 20:56
  • Incidentally, so does manually sending a POST request to the servers. Theoretically. – wizzwizz4 Jul 4 '18 at 15:28
