I'm now qualify for a profile on Stack Overflow Careers. But every time I try to log in with my existing Stack Exchange or Yahoo account, this is the error that I got:

Unable to log in with your OpenID provider:

The openid.return_to parameter (XXX) the request was made with.

Keep note that I can log into Stack Overflow with both of my existing Stack Exchange and Yahoo accounts without having any problem..

  • I tried to use different web browser.
  • I already tried to clear my browser cache and cookies.

But unfortunately, the problem is still there.

Edit: The problem only occurs when using the HTTPS Everywhere plugin.

Before I write an official reply, are you using the HTTPS Everywhere plugin? It seems to be breaking our OpenID implementation. Our fault, not theirs. – Juice Jan 10 '14 at 14:55
  • @Juice Please see my answer: meta.stackexchange.com/a/215755/220794 – 5ervant Jan 11 '14 at 10:14

I'd just disable the HTTPS Everywhere plugin of my web browser and everything works fine..

@Juice is right! That plugin is breaking the OpenID implementation of Stack Overflow Careers 2.0..

Just note that some of the SO Careers' OpenID implementation isn't (https) on top of the SSL/TLS protocol.

Yeah. Sorry about that. It's an issue with our HTTPS implementation. We're working on it. – Juice Jan 12 '14 at 19:30
  • I was redirected here because I had posted here meta.stackexchange.com/questions/245828/… about login problems on Area 51 (area51.stackexchange.com). I use Firefox 34.0 with the HTTPS Everywhere plugin, and the browser console shows the error Loading mixed (insecure) display content on a secure page "gravatar.com/avatar/…" The gravatar caused the problem. But why doesn't this same error occur on other stackexchange sites? – ramius Dec 20 '14 at 11:07
