Not sure if it's a bug - but behavior is strange at least. The issue is - that if stay in chat room for long time (~24 hours or more), then usual functions to edit my own messages which I've just said, is unavailable. I.e. if I press on message menu - there will be only "permalink" available, or else - if just press the (up) arrow on keyboard, nothing happens (instead of displaying form with editing for that message).

If I'll rejoin the room, problem disappears (so I'm unable to edit message that I've just said > I rejoin > I'm able to edit that message) until I'll hang there for long time again. That's why I think it's a bug and not how it's intended to work. Also I'm able to use room owner's functions no matter how long I'm "hanging" - thus, it's not like "I'm logged off".

My browser is Firefox under Linux (if that matters)

  • Sounds like you're getting logged out, that's why not seeing the actions menu. – Shadow The Princess Wizard Feb 25 '14 at 14:26
  • Then why I'm able to write messages? Also room owner's functions are available no matter how long I'm "handing" – Alma Do Feb 25 '14 at 14:29
  • It's a technical matter, the code to post new chat message is client side and is already in the browser, just waiting for the button click or Enter key press, which send AJAX request with your unique fkey and the message. As far as I can tell, this action will automatically log you in even if logged out. – Shadow The Princess Wizard Feb 25 '14 at 14:31
  • You can verify this by looking in the users grid in the top right: if you're not there it means you're logged out of the room. – Shadow The Princess Wizard Feb 25 '14 at 14:32
  • @ShadowWizard but I'm there I mean, if chat tab is opened for my room - then I'll be in users list no matter how long I'm "hanging" – Alma Do Feb 25 '14 at 14:33
  • Hmm... so it might be something else. Hope a dev will take a look! – Shadow The Princess Wizard Feb 25 '14 at 14:34
