Now with actual (pictures of) gold plate and a gold SO icon.

There's a new preferences tooltip (bling bling) that allows features to be toggled:

gold-plated preferences

Shamelessly ripping off an existing script to show daily reputation, here's a script that:

  • Shows day's rep score in the top bar (1)
  • Shows the most recent update inline in the header (2)
  • Locks the header bar to the top of the page so it's always in view (3)
  • Count down the remaining time for earning rep today (4)
  • New preferences icon, launches tooltip to change preferences (5)
  • Preferences are saved separately for each site
  • Show today's reputation in the page title (6)
  • Queries for new questions once a minute and updates the page with new questions and updates to existing questions
  • If looking at a particular tag, the page is updated only with questions for those tag(s)
  • Queries for today's reputation once a minute and inline updates reputation and today's score (with a little hide/show effect for added niceness).
  • Shows the today's votes as a tooltip on mouseover of today's score
  • Clicking today's score takes you to the reputation page for today

The new preferences tooltip is shown when you click on the gold SO icon (I haven't got round to doing the SF/SU versions). This allows you to pick the desired features, the selections are applied when Save is selected and persisted between sessions.

I've removed the timestamp update processing as when questions are updated, the "X mins ago" field is updated anyway.

You can get the updated script from userscripts.org: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/58719

Here's the reputation tooltip in action:

I had some issues using the GM_init approach to use the JQuery script already provided, so haven't got that sorted.

Some TODO items:

  • Smarter processing for inserting new questions (e.g. block inserts on link mouseover)
  • Restore the time field from the latest update item, styled to fit in the available space
  • Filter newly inserted questions by interesting tag and/or excluding ignored tags
  • Clicking the envelope takes you to today's summary page, as in from midnight UTC to now

  • It's the ultimate greasemonkey script for SOUF! – Kredns Sep 28 '09 at 3:43

Slightly disappointed, was expecting an actual polished-gold themed skin, like a Cornify for those of us who love bling. (sigh) Oh well, I guess I can dream. – ベレアー アダム Sep 28 '09 at 12:26
  • @Adam sorry to disappoint, I'll think about adding a chav button when I get round to adding preferences – Rich Seller Sep 28 '09 at 12:30
  • @Adam, ask and ye shall receive, check out the updated version – Rich Seller Oct 5 '09 at 20:13
  • Very nice, Rich Seller! :) – www Oct 5 '09 at 20:15
  • I love this, and finally installed Greasemonkey just for this script. One problem I have right now is that the rep number is showing 0, though the mouse-over shows all the rep-history. – Lance Roberts Jan 22 '10 at 17:25
  • The 0 also shows up in the window and tab titles, instead of the actual rep. – Lance Roberts Jan 22 '10 at 17:27
  • @Lance, I just spotted that too, the original script was broken when the summary page was changed. I've just updated the script to take into account the new layout – Rich Seller Jan 22 '10 at 17:55
  • @home4film.com, I've found that the response envelope doesn't light up anymore (I assume your script is reading the Recent Activity page to get it's data). Can you add some functionality so that when I get a response the envelope still lights up, or some other device let's me know? – Lance Roberts Jan 23 '10 at 2:04
  • @Lance, now that is interesting, will look into that – Rich Seller Jan 23 '10 at 10:43
  • Something that would be awesome is having the envelope show in the tab itself (when it's lit). That way I would know just by looking at my tabs if I had a response on any of the sites (I usually have 7 tabs working). – Lance Roberts Jan 25 '10 at 22:25

Just a word of warning, this script + open tabs + 24hrs == IP banned – Bryan Denny Jul 18 '10 at 20:07

can this please be moved to stackapps.com/?tab=scripts as necessary? Or flag for deletion. – Jeff Atwood Jul 31 '11 at 22:48

This seems to be broken. An update would be great! – ThiefMaster Apr 24 '12 at 9:04

Very cool - thank you!

Found a bug: Clicking a link to an answer doesn't cater for the fixed header. This also happens when clicking the Recent / Views / Newest / Votes links in the user profile.

Also just received a badge and the header was chopped up. Best explained with a screenshot but don't have access to ImageShack from my current proxy. If you have e-mail or Twitter I can show you.

  • I've got a prefs page in my TODO list. What features don't you like? – Rich Seller Sep 28 '09 at 10:08
  • Not sure what link you're referring to. Could you elaborate? – Rich Seller Sep 28 '09 at 10:09
  • @Rich: Updated my answer and sorry missed that item on your TODO list. There's no features I dislike, just some I'm not sure about (such as the time display). – Alex Angas Sep 28 '09 at 10:43
  • @Al I'm not sure about that feature either, it was just simpler than reverse engineering the "X mins ago" so that inserting items didn't lead to confusing times. I am planning on adding a preferences tooltip with GM_getValue/GM_setValue calls to persist the choices. – Rich Seller Sep 28 '09 at 11:04
  • I can guess what's going on with the badges alert, thanks for the pointer, I'll have a look at fixing it. If you can capture the html for an alert it would help with debugging (or if I get one more vote for this question I can capture it myself...) – Rich Seller Sep 28 '09 at 11:07
  • @Rich: I have the HTML and there's also JavaScript involved. Let me know how to get it you. – Alex Angas Sep 28 '09 at 11:10
  • Thanks for the offer Al, but some kind soul just got me the "Nice Question badge, so I have the source now. The problem is that I just clone the header section and add it to a div styled to lock to the top of the page. So when a badge is awarded, the original header is shunted down and peeks out of the bottom. I think I just need to figure out how to append my header div after the notifications section so it moves with it. Maybe – Rich Seller Sep 28 '09 at 11:44
  • finally got round to fixing those bugs, both the answer link and new badge are handled now – Rich Seller Oct 5 '09 at 20:19
  • Oh wow now that's hot. – Alex Angas Oct 6 '09 at 8:42
