Can the game please be kept after today, even just as some hidden, super secret link?

Pretty please?

(+1) Yes, pretty pplease ^_^. It reminded me of the Dave game from the 90's! – Dawny33 Apr 1 '16 at 7:26

Kitten eyes, with knowledge of the author of said game - well played, well played. – Tim Post Apr 1 '16 at 7:40

@TimPost if the game came up on steam greenlight, i'd vote for it. – mag Apr 1 '16 at 7:54

It's not like it is a change that will cause any noise to users that don't want to see it again. Just put it somewhere on a "StackHistoria" page – Νеvеrꭑoꭇе Apr 1 '16 at 9:03

Last year's April Fools was made open source, I don't see why this one wouldn't be as well. – Simon Forsberg Apr 1 '16 at 11:52

Open source it! Last year: link. Related for this year: link. – Zanon Apr 1 '16 at 13:19
  • @SimonForsberg well only the core, no link to actual web page where you can play it. Still awesome, but I am greedy... :-) – Shadow The Princess Wizard Apr 1 '16 at 13:29

My son keeps asking me to play, so for the sake of my productivity: please no! ;-) – Jon Ericson Apr 1 '16 at 16:34
  • I've uploaded it to my blog, it's exactly as it is on the Stack Exchange websites without modification. Will keep it there until/if an employee uploads it. – AStopher Apr 1 '16 at 19:26

@cybermonkey awesome, think it's worth an answer... though I'm not sure about the legal aspect, April Fools or not. :) – Shadow The Princess Wizard Apr 1 '16 at 20:19
  • @ShadowWizard Added. – AStopher Apr 1 '16 at 20:57

We plan to keep it around. It just runs off our CDN and is isolated from everything else we have, so it doesn't really cost us anything to keep it going. I'll update this post next week once we sort out a few things (I also want to open-source the code and whatnot). – Adam Lear Apr 1 '16 at 21:01

    Thanks @Adam that's ideal! – Shadow The Princess Wizard Apr 1 '16 at 21:04

    @Shadow hello wizard, I am your horse :D – Sнаđошƒаӽ Apr 3 '16 at 4:10

@Sнаđошƒаӽ lol, I prefer a unicorn but guess you'd do just fine in the meantime... :P – Shadow The Princess Wizard Apr 3 '16 at 6:31

I've uploaded Unikong to a directory on my developer blog, and used one of my site template styles (the colour goes surprisingly well with Unikong).

The copyright referencing Stack Exchange was taken from the bottom of this page (I thought SE was SO now? Kept it Stack Exchange anyhow for safe-keeping.), but if it requires more copyright info/attribution then adding it won't be a problem.

Just rolled out an update to count the total statistics across all players. Does cause some minor performance issues with some computers though, and I'll be fixing that tomorrow.

Awesome, so we report bugs to you for the time being? ;) – Shadow The Princess Wizard Apr 1 '16 at 21:05

@ShadowWizard Yeah, I'm also going to add a few extras such as that scoreboard... – AStopher Apr 1 '16 at 21:06

In case you missed it, Adam said SE itself will host it next week, but having yours in place until then, and as a "mirror", would still be really awesome. :-) – Shadow The Princess Wizard Apr 1 '16 at 21:08
  • Unikong disappeared at around 5:30 (+5:30 IST).+1 – Suici Doga Apr 2 '16 at 12:13
  • Just in case you don’t know: You are not allowed to do this unless you have the permission of the authors / copyright holders, which could be, for example, given via a free/libre/open source license … or a friendly comment under this answer ;) – unor Apr 2 '16 at 16:07
  • @unor I'm assuming the lack of complaints (from Stack Overflow) is approval of my actions.. the community seems to agree with them at least. I've already said that if I'm required to, adding further attribution/taking it down isn't a problem, and your disapproval doesn't affect that. – AStopher Apr 2 '16 at 17:24

Regarding SE vs SO: Their legal, registered name still Stack Exchance, Inc. but their trade name is Stack Overflow. – Alex A. Apr 2 '16 at 20:00
  • This is technically not a legal use. However, I doubt SE will complain too much. It would be wise to remove it when they host it themselves, though. – ArtOfCode Apr 2 '16 at 21:21
  • I should really update the PHP script to send AJAX calls less often.. someone remind me if I haven't done so by the 7th May 2016. – AStopher May 6 '16 at 7:32

I guess you no longer have your blog? The link is down – CalvT Mar 1 '17 at 9:46
  • @CalvT Indeed. If there's sufficient demand, I can put it online again (I still have the files). – AStopher Apr 3 '17 at 11:19
  • That link brought me directly into a possibly harmful site. – wythagoras May 1 '17 at 19:46
  • @wythagoras I'll change and re-upload when I can. – AStopher May 1 '17 at 19:47

Found from this SO Meta answer, you can play it from here:
