A couple of days ago, I have proposed a shopping site in Area51/Life to discuss shopping issues. Yesterday, I had got one follower with a first question. But, today, my proposal was removed.

I read that deletion happens when a site is spam, abusive or inactive for a month. The latter is excluded because my proposal existed for less than a week. Which category does Shopping belonging to: spam or abuse?

The proposal was deleted because it didn't meet the Minimum Activity Requirements of Area 51.

If you look at the Minimum Activity Requirements, you'll see that it says:

After you've submitted your proposal below, here is all you'll need to get started:

  • 5 example questions you would like to ask on this site
  • 5 users who are willing to 'follow' this proposal

Proposals that do not meet these requirements within three days after submission are subject to removal. Note that abandoned proposals which receive no activity for a period of 30 days may also be removed.

  • Why was it removed 3 days after creation, not in the very same second when I created it? It had zero questions and 0 followers at that time, which undeniably means that it would not have enough at the end of 30-day period. – Val Feb 18 '17 at 17:19

...Because then there would be no new sites. They wait three days to see if it gets enough support. – Mithrandir Feb 18 '17 at 17:20
  • Ok, I see the number 3 in your question now. Thanks for making sense. You maintain my believe in mankind! – Val Feb 18 '17 at 17:23
