When you reopen the iOS app (v1.6.3.6) after some larger time of idleness it usually updates its feed automatically and then displays you the latest hot network questions. But while it's loading it seems that questions from last time's app usage are displayed, except you can't tap them because the app is loading.

How often in that exact moment did I see an interesting top question I wanted to read but couldn't since the app was loading and I couldn't tap it and when the app is done loading the question got replaced by the freshly loaded feed.

So I'm asking to

  1. prevent automatic feed reloading (if old feed exists) and let us do that manually or

  2. make old top question tappable while the new feed is loading or

  3. display a white screen while the new feed is loading so we don't get attracted to old questions we can't read or

  4. give us the possibility to get the initially displayed top question back (if one exists) with the first reload swipe.

I myself prefer the latter.

  • I'm not sure what the conditions are for the feed refreshing but it certainly doesn't auto-refresh every time I reopen the app (I'm sure it has done, but I can't get it to now). What version of the app are you using? – Cai Feb 23 '17 at 17:05
  • @Cai - Oh true, you are right. So this maybe happens only after a certain time of inactivity. I'm using v1.6.3.6. I'll investigate to hopefully identify the moment a bit clearer. – leymannx Feb 23 '17 at 17:43
