Don't run this snippet. It contains a virus!

In any case, my advice is to avoid marquees like the plague.

If you can see there's a tag over there without hovering, then you gotta be careful!

This is a useful test for Puzzling Stack Exchange.

print('hello world')

print('hello world')

So <code>...</code> is equivalent to just simply using

`...`

But like:

print('hello world')

Is different.

That spoiler formatting has been biting me. Time to see how it works.

First up:

markdown lists in a spoiler:

Formatting:

>! 1. one
2. two

Result:

! 1. one 2. two

Formatting:

>! 1. one
>! 2. two

Result:

1. one 2. two

HTML lists in spoiler:

Inline

Formatting:

>! <ul><li>one</li><li>two</li><li>three</li></ul>

Result:

  • one
  • two
  • three

Not-inline HTML lists in spoiler 1:

Formatting:

>!<ul>
    <li>one</li>
    <li>two</li>
    <li>three</li>
</ul>

Result:

!

  • one
  • two
  • three

Non-inline lists in spoiler 2:

Formatting:

>!<ul>
>! <li>one</li>
>! <li>two</li>
>! <li>three</li>
>!</ul>

Result:

  • one
  • two
  • three

How to put a plain hashtag (#) in a post

When you type a # at the beginning of a line in a post and try to put text immediately after it in a post using markdown, it creates text in a header:

Text

If you want actually put a # in the post, you must use a backslash to escape it:

#Text

Here is the plain text for the heading text:

#Text

and for the text with an actual hashtag:

\#Text

Does ``` formatting work to make a code block, like a four-space indent?

Apparently not.

(But see the code of this paragraph or the heading, for what consecutive `s actually do.)

The backticks are for inline code, whatever is between two of those is formatted as code, but without prettify. It also works in comments. Commented Sep 28, 2017 at 9:28
