This is supposed to be a post to test a bug related to rolling back to suggested edits when "improve edit" is selected

And this is the proposed edit

[status-no-repro] on answers apparently

I don't particularly mind if you flag this as spam, though some moderator might dislike that ... a lot.

Link at end of post:

This is a test post for Charcoal HQ.

  • why you don't want others flag this as spam? – user298438 Jun 9 '18 at 18:21
  • @user298438 That's not what I wrote. A moderator will review your spam flag and probably dismiss it as unhelpful because this isn't actually spam. The text is mainly there as a test case for the SmokeDetecter bot in Charcoal, and I don't want users there to spend time on analyzing it needlessly. – tripleee Jun 9 '18 at 19:17

    I am flagging this as spam because it obviously exists to advertise Charcoal HQ – John Militer Jun 11 '18 at 14:11

It doesn't

Community or URL rewriter?

Just noticed a URL rewrite show up under URL rewriter in the edit logs. Just want to see if it still is that, or if it's Community (because I could've sworn I've seen Community on there, so I want to test it).

This should be re-written to HTTPS (eventually at least).

http://stackoverflow.com

... or it just ignores edits, or isn't run any more. Unless it does edits at mignight or runs slightly like roomba. or it ignores URLs, but the main post suggests it at moves http images to https.

Community (should in theory) change this to https:

At least according to the "what is the Community bot" post

Testing the new ```-style codeblocks:

this is a code block

This is a codeblock in a blockquote

Language highlighting:

With a ```lang-c at the top:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(int argc, char** argv)
{
    int i = 6;
    while(i --> 0) printf(i);
    return 0;
}

Gotta love the magic editor. Makes a lot of my editing a lot quicker.

But code markdown appears to break it :/ So this is just a reproduction post for the problem, in theory anyways.

public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("This should default back to regular code formatting, and backticks more or less removed");
}

Unrelated, random update as requested by NH. for notification testing related to question starring. Just don't stare directly at the question, or you may feel like you're seeing ponies everywhere

  • Would you please update your answer or answer again, @Asuna? I'm testing whether starring this question will notify me in any way. – NH. Feb 21 at 16:43
  • @NH. Updated - pretty sure you just get a special update thingy on your profile under favorites (shows up as a "1" on the post IIRC) – Zoe Feb 21 at 16:47

foo FOO:

def f1(s):
    return s

def f2():
    f1('I LOVE FOO')

print(f2())

Aha, a joke, now a working one:

def f1(s):
    return s

def f2():
    return f1('I LOVE FOO')

print(f2())

How about:

def f1():
    f2()

def f2():
    f1()

print(f1())

  • ...but: new paragraphs need an empty line. See my edit. (Explicit line breaks, which do not start a new paragraph, are rarely needed, but are possible too. As I really dislike the abuse of line breaks, I won't explain the trick here, though the Markdown help makes no secret out of it...) – Arjan Sep 19 '10 at 2:11

Some apparent whitespace problems, 10 m/s (original post):

The period of a pendulum of length $h$ for small oscillations is $2\pi \sqrt{h/g}$, with $g$ the acceleration due to gravity, about $10 m/s$.

Update: Meta Stack Overflow does not seem to have the formula stuff that Physics has.

Be aware that you can run into trouble if you try to use < inside: <code>a<b</code> gives a!

  1. You can't have a backslash \ in the end of inline code in comments. If you try `\\`, then the result will be `\`. You'll have to type `\\ ` and live with the white space being within the inline code.
