At the moment, suspending folks in chat is pretty easy: You press a button, and they can't chat for an hour.

The problem is, this button doesn't have any sort of confirmation. It just... goes ahead and suspends them. This doesn't make sense; the "refresh profile" button, right next to it, does have a confirmation dialog, but the suspension doesn't.

This is not normally an issue, but I've accidentally suspended a user while trying to refresh their profile before. Entirely my fault, and I immediately unsuspended them and apologized, but it'd still make more sense for the suspension button to not be so easy to fat finger.

don't yell at me, Shog

Or just set the default to 0. Its not like there's any guidance on how long to suspend someone? ... though suspending someone for 0 hours is... trippy. Commented Jun 6, 2018 at 13:52
  • I do wonder, if you immediately unsuspend, how the user can even tell they were suspended? Do they get a message? Or can otherwise see any visual effect, when the suspension is gone? (Assuming they didn't try to post in chat or view their profile during the few seconds the suspension was active) Commented Jul 11 at 13:20

@ShadowWizard - If the person is actively in chat, then they get their screen reloaded and they can't send any messages.

After six to eight years of careful contemplation, I have decided that this is a reasonable request 😁

Done.

@Laurel Nobody 😄 Mithical just pointed this post out in the Tavern, and I was working on chat anyway. Making this one-line change was quicker than coming up with an excuse not to do it.
