Possible Duplicate:
Make Moderator abilities relate to Rep Inflation

I'd like it if the powers you get with reputation (down-vote, close, see deleted posts) were balanced according to traffic; ie, in meta, it's harder to reach 10K rep (or it should at least) and I'd really like to try out those moderator tools, that seem to be so far in the horizon.

I have the feeling that the rep requirements are calibrated for SO, but perhaps they should be different in meta, SU, and SF

It's much easier to gain rep on Meta, trust me. – Ladybug Killer Dec 11 '09 at 17:25
  • Not for me... no-one upvote my stuff... and pretty much all of it is funny! – juan Dec 11 '09 at 17:45

If you have to tell people that it's funny, it probably isn't. – mmyers Dec 11 '09 at 17:50
  • (Note: I don't have any personal recollection of any of your posts, so I'm not criticizing your humor in particular.) – mmyers Dec 11 '09 at 17:51
  • @Juan: It must be circled freehandedly, not funny! (But it is fun to mess up the English language :) – Ladybug Killer Dec 11 '09 at 17:52
  • "pretty much all of it is funny" --> "no-one upvote my stuff" - Re-ordered for your benefit. – Pollyanna Dec 11 '09 at 17:52

  • The fewer people, the less need for people with moderator tools. Now, if there was a mismatch... – Charles Stewart Dec 11 '09 at 18:22
  • Since this isn't a humor site, "pretty much all of it is funny" is the reason why you're not getting upvotes. – Travis Dec 11 '09 at 21:51
  • @TPops, I beg to differ – juan Dec 12 '09 at 0:10

No, on Meta it really wasn't that hard to break 10k. – random Dec 12 '09 at 0:11

It's supposed to be hard to get 10k. Even on (perhaps especially on) sites with lighter traffic.

Part of the reasoning behind this is that lower traffic doesn't require as much moderation, and so new moderators aren't needed as much.

  • I can't argue with this logic... I stand by my feature request though – juan Dec 11 '09 at 18:37
