In an unfinished and not-ready-for-publication post, I tried to insert a link from the toolbar of the SE-internal editor. Unsatisfied with the result, I wanted to just cancel the dialog. That was "canceled" in that the content of the link box didn't appear in the post, but it also submitted the post prematurely.

This seems to have happened more than five times now to me and appears as a somewhat reproducible bug. It does not always happen, but just now it happened one time too many.

Browser used is Safari 12.1.1

  • You mean clicking the cancel link actually posts what you are editing, right? – rene May 18 '19 at 10:32
  • @rene It looks to me that way. – LаngLаngС May 18 '19 at 10:33

I could reproduce for both questions and answers. (I saw that the routine for submitting the question got executed; in the end it was the captcha dialog that stopped the submission.) – Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog May 18 '19 at 10:35

  • Can't really reproduce. My assumption is, though, that the Cancel button needs the HTML argument [type="button"] to fix this. – MEE - codidact.org May 18 '19 at 19:05
