On a site where I have 10,000 reputation the Recently Deleted section of the Tools page shows me only one post deleted 15 hours ago:

However, I know that a post was just deleted within the last half hour:

Is there some reason why this recently deleted post doesn't show up in the Recently Deleted section? Are there certain types of deletions that aren't recorded there?

A relevant factor may be that the poster's account was removed:

Would that cause the post to not show up in the Recently Deleted section?

Until today, the page only showed posts that had been created in the last 60 days.

This has been changed to show posts that have been deleted in the last 60 days.

  • Is this in addition to the reason in Glorfindel’s answer below? Or was that incorrect? – Alex Feb 3 at 15:54
  • So this was a bug? – Shadow Keeps Social Distance Feb 3 at 16:38
  • Does this also apply to the list of deleted questions one can see on the user account (for those with <10k rep)? – MEE - codidact.org Feb 3 at 21:36

@MEE-codidact.org Yes, it does; I just tested it out on one of my questions I posted a year ago, and it showed up in the list. – Sonic the Stay-Home Hedgehog Feb 4 at 1:13
  • I just don't get it — what is the problem with instead showing all of them? It'd be extremely easy (just changing a number in the code from 60 to something very big would essentially work, I'm pretty sure), so why not just implement the very popular feature request with ~20 bounties? – Stormblessed Mar 3 at 6:04

Yes, this seems related to the deletion of the account. I've just checked the list of recently deleted posts on Ask Different; one of them was a spam post posted 2 hours ago. I proceeded to destroy the account; when I checked the Recently Deleted section again, the post was gone there. A later test revealed that just deleting the account (instead of destroying it) also removes the post from the Recently Deleted section.

Another case is when the author deletes the post himself. – user000001 Jan 7 at 10:59
