Does a feature like this exist? A question has been closed, because the user must write it in a better way.

I have already an answer for it, and it would be great to have an alert/notification when it will be open again.

I'd recommend not to tag a question feature-request unless you have a fully fleged one. – πάντα ῥεῖ Jul 21 at 14:42

You can just follow the question and you will be notified of any activity on it. – Mark Kirby Jul 21 at 14:43
  • no @MarkKirby , it seems that only the author will get a notification when a question is open again – aborruso Jul 21 at 15:04

It should be relatively easy to add reopen actions as a notification for following. Since I can certainly imagine that someone might follow a closed question to see if it gets reopened - so that they can answer it - I think this seems like a reasonable addition to the current feature. I'll see if we can make this happen. :) – Catija Jul 21 at 18:07
  • You can always use a web tracker like pageprobe for firefox. Just select the word closed over your question and select "Track Content". – SurpriseDog Jul 22 at 3:10

You can follow the question, but reopening isn't one of the 'Some post notifications' you'll get an update for (source: I just scienced this on Ask Different Meta). Only the author will get a notification for this. You will get notified when somebody else posts an answer, but that might be too late.

  • Thank you, then it's not possible to have an alert. I think it would be very useful – aborruso Jul 21 at 15:03

I am very surprised by the fact following does not give a notification for closing and reopening. That seems like the one of the main reasons to follow a question. – Mark Kirby Jul 21 at 15:11

@aborruso "I think it would be very useful " Then please follow my advice in the comment, and make your quesiton a good feature request, or even ask a new question for that. – πάντα ῥεῖ Jul 21 at 18:00

Thanks for testing this out! It helped me recognize that we may have missed this. I think reopening was supposed to be part of following so let's see if we can get it fixed. – Catija Jul 21 at 18:09
  • @Ollie post owners don't get a notification for that; I'd be surprised if followers would get one. – Glorfindel Jul 21 at 18:17
  • @Ollie Locked posts can't be followed, which currently has some bugs: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/348413/… – pkamb Jul 21 at 18:18
  • The notification to the OP about closing is (status-planned): Send authors an inbox message if their question is closed. I am not sure about notification of reopening - but it seems "symmetric" to have notifications about both. – Martin Jul 24 at 6:46
