One of my answers was deleted for not having enough context around a provided link. After revising and posting an answer with more explanation, I still have not received the reputation for the answer.

9What makes you think upvotes (assuming you had such) on a deleted answer would "transfer" to a new answer?– Shadow WizardCommented Apr 9 at 20:25

2Are you asking with respect to these answers? (answer 1) (answer 2). If so, the original answer has 0 upvotes and 4 downvotes, and the new answer has 0 upvotes or downvotes, so you would not have received reputation for either.– Brian61354270Commented Apr 9 at 20:51

1@Brian61354270 one of those answers has never been deleted and the other has never been modified so I guess that means it's neither of those.– Robert LongsonCommented Apr 9 at 20:55

Reputation isn't automatically assigned by merit or effort put into a post, it's fickle and depends on how much interest the question has gotten - some are more popular than others. Keep at it, answer posts, put questions (keeping the quality as high as you can on the way), perform some useful edits when appropriate. It can take a while to get into the way things work here.– W.O.Commented Apr 9 at 21:17

@Anonymous but you haven't edited the first answer at all and the second one has no votes. No votes means no points.– Robert LongsonCommented Apr 9 at 21:23

3Is it possible that you've mistaken reposting an answer for editing the original?– W.O.Commented Apr 9 at 21:28

If you revise a deleted answer and you can't undelete it yourself, flag it for moderator attention and explain what you've done and why it now qualifies to be undeleted. If the moderators agree they will undelete it for you.
Once undeleted the votes on the answer will apply to your account again.
