I recently asked Can Asterisk use an Android smartphone as an external line? on Super User but it was closed as off-topic.

Here's the bulk of my question:

I am setting up a home PBX with Asterisk. I need to use my existing Android smartphone as the external phone line. I would like Asterisk to be able to make and receive external telephone calls by routing them through to internal handsets, just as it would with a PSTN line. (...)

How do I configure Asterisk to use a mobile phone as an external telephone line, instead of a PSTN line?

Where can I ask it? Is there anything I can do to improve the question?

It looks like you're trying to get an hardware recommendation? if so, those might fly on hardwarerecs.stackexchange.com/help/on-topic but please go over their help and meta first before you commit to asking.

On-topic or off-topic, the question seems both too broad and underspecified. Why wouldn't the answer always be "It depends."? Commented May 3 at 19:57

@This_is_NOT_a_forum I have improved the question. As I understand it, there should be a definitive answer now. Commented May 4 at 7:47
