Possible Duplicates:
Bug using quote button in Google Chrome on Windows
Blockquote glitch in editor in Chrome 6 and 7

Enter text, mark it and select Blockquote gives some weird output.

For example:

Hello world

gives this:

Hello world

Hello world> Hello worldHello world

Hello world

It works if there is text after that is already blockquoted (for instance, selecting "For example" above and selecting blockquote works fine).

The browser I am using is Google Chrome 6.0.472.62, haven't tried it on others. Also found this error on other Stack Exchange sites (the ones I tried were Stack Overflow, Meta Stack Overflow, Super User and Meta Super User).

  • @Tobias: yup. duplicate. should I just delete this question? Or.. wait for someone to [closed] it? – Default Sep 21 '10 at 11:09
  • It's up to you whether you delete now or wait for the close votes. – ChrisF Sep 21 '10 at 11:09
  • since you didn't stumble upon the other post others might also find your post first, so it may be useful to redirect them – Tobias Kienzler Sep 21 '10 at 11:11
  • Although, there is an answer that says v6 is stable and works, but I use 6.0.472.62. I don't go for any betas (unless Google pushes it automatically) – Default Sep 21 '10 at 11:12
  • @Tobias: true. I guess I'll leave it to be closed then :) I added the duplicate to the top of the question. – Default Sep 21 '10 at 11:16
  • @Michael no need to insert a dupe link, it will happen automatically as soon as 5 votes to close are in – Tobias Kienzler Sep 21 '10 at 11:18
  • @Michael: you should edit this fact in in your question, since when it's not a beta it is no exact duplicate... but maybe you should also leave a comment @Jeff on the other bug report – Tobias Kienzler Sep 21 '10 at 11:20
  • One more question then, in the duplicate it says "status-declined" as a tag. Does this mean that it's not being fixed? – Default Sep 21 '10 at 11:20
  • @Tobias: I thought of it, but I saw that hmemcpy already left a comment that he has a stable version and that the bug remains. Just found out what status-declined meant as well, so I guess it won't be fixed.. :( – Default Sep 21 '10 at 11:22
  • hm.. I should learn to search first. Found a second dup: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/63307/… . Jeff also states that it's Googles fault, not his – Default Sep 21 '10 at 11:29
  • @Michael: not necessarily, now that it's a non-beta issue that might change. Upvote there, leave a comment, involve... – Tobias Kienzler Sep 21 '10 at 11:47
  • @Michael in fact, that is an even better dupe. Maybe you should flag your report for moderator attention and mention that as dupe-source – Tobias Kienzler Sep 21 '10 at 11:49
