# Sites

There are five main types of privilege thresholds (sorted from high to low):

* [Stack Overflow](//stackoverflow.com/privileges/)

* graduated sites with a design ([example](//unix.stackexchange.com/privileges/))

* public betas and graduated sites without a design ([example](//hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/privileges))

* [Ask Patents](//patents.stackexchange.com/help/privileges)

* Private Betas and [this site](//cs50.stackexchange.com/help/privileges).

Except for Ask Patents, these are covered in the below table. See further below for changes to individual sites.

³ see and cast close and reopen votes on own questions
⁴ access the first-posts, late-answers, and triage (SO only) review queues

### Site-specific changes:
* To participate in MathOverflow Meta, you only need [1 reputation](//mathoverflow.net/help/privileges/participate-in-meta).
* Commenting everywhere on Meta Stack Exchange is already [allowed at 5 reputation](//meta.stackexchange.com/help/privileges/comment). On Stack Apps, there is no threshold at all.
* Downvoting on Meta Stack Exchange is allowed at [100 reputation](//meta.stackexchange.com/a/286150/295232), not 125.
* Tag creation on Mathematics requires [1000 reputation](//math.stackexchange.com/help/privileges/create-tags). On StackApps it requires [99 reputation](//stackapps.com/help/privileges/create-tags).
* Running for Stack Overflow moderator also requires certain badges, not just reputation.

### Privileges not tied to a specific threshold
* To answer protected questions, you need to gain 10 reputation on the site – the association bonus does not count.
* Every 1,000 reputation after the moderator-tools privilege, you gain another delete vote.
* Every 1,000 reputation, you get one bonus flag per day. (You also gain bonus flags for casting helpful flags.)

### When reputation thresholds change

When a site moves from one phase to another, [there is no grandfathering of privileges of any kind](//meta.stackexchange.com/a/139433/179372). You’ll immediately be held to the new thresholds and lose any privileges you no longer quality for.

# Chat
There are three chat domains:

* Stack Overflow
* Meta Stack Exchange
* Stack Exchange (everything else)

Your chat privileges are based on your reputation in the respective domain. This means that for Stack Exchange Chat your accumulated reputation counts.
