What's the reasoning behind the vote button tooltips having changed?

As a mod on a scientific stack, this drives me nuts. Research effort is built-in to our community's self-determined quality control, and this tooltip was the most concrete support for that approach in ...

What's the reasoning behind the vote button tooltips having changed?

Changing the message has removed the reason why users edited their posts and added the research, in order to improve or make it comply with their site's guidelines. Whenever I saw a post which I had ...

What's the reasoning behind the vote button tooltips having changed?

I keep checking in from time to time, and you know, it is incredibly demoralizing to see unilateral changes like this pass without prior discussion with the community. I thought we talked about this ...

New round of UI updates... apparently. Edits in close banners, summary tab changes, and now new vote tooltip (content)s?

These were a series of small follow up tasks related to larger projects that recently shipped: Edit button update was tied to the close flow changes. Brian explains more here. The summary tab update ...

Please add a delay to the hover tooltips

We've added a 300ms delay on all tooltips. Thought about making it configurable per tooltip, but ultimately landed on consistency being more important. Thanks for the request!

Does the downvote tooltip on questions contradict site policy?

"Lack of research" is a crippling problem for these sites because it destroys the very thing that allows them to scale: re-use. In theory, a question (once answered) need not be asked again; future ...

Questions with bounties awarded sometimes show the awarding users' names as "false"

Does the downvote tooltip on questions contradict site policy?

Your assumption seems to be that "research" means Googling. It does not. A question might show a lack of research if it's a "my code no work" wall of code with no suggestion that the user has tried ...
