Oct 30, 2014 at 12:12 comment added ꓢPArcheon @balpha found this question while searching for a similar problem on meta. Just wanted to point out that the message shown in the access control page never mentions diamond mods, giving the impression that room owners should be able to bypass the limit too.

Clarified that only diamond mods can do this; removed confusing sentence at beginning added by other editors

I am trying this edit again (last time, I promise) because it was rejected under a wrong assumption. Normal users cannot invite <20 rep to chat even if they are the owners. Only mods can do this, see the comments below.

Feb 16, 2013 at 21:21 comment added ɥʇǝS @balpha Is there a question explaining why this is? Over on AU we had quite a sweat trying to figure out how to help a certain new user in chat, since all the options were there, they just didn't work.
Nov 13, 2011 at 10:59 comment added balpha StaffMod This only works because you're a moderator, nhinkle. Non-moderators aren't allowed to circumvent the 20-rep limit.
Nov 13, 2011 at 10:46 comment added Lukas Knuth This defiantly works, but only clicking the link under the comments would be much easier :D
Nov 13, 2011 at 1:09 comment added nhinkle @BenBrocka I agree that it's somewhat difficult, but currently that's how it works. Hopefully the developers will implement a way to make it easier to invite new users to chat, but in the meantime, this is the best workaround.
Nov 13, 2011 at 1:08 comment added Zelda This seems quite complicated for a normal user to go through just to start a chat with a new user.
