If it's unlikely that the direct answer is helpful, but still reasonable, or not that harmful, I usually do this. If the direct answer is actively harmful (i.e. stove example) I will either put the preferred approach first, and the direct answer second (for emphasis) or actively tell them that there is a direct answer and I've chosen not to provide it because of (...). | |
