As explained in hotness formula post, "accepted answers are a fine social contract, but not a good data point for question or answer quality" - meaning it doesn't really indicate a valuable content. I can imagine this as sort of protection for new users who might need time to get rep for upvote privilege, fine - but even then, I can't see how keeping zero-score, unattended answers is justified for more than, say, a year | |
