They made a firm commitment about media statements, and recieved significant free moderation services in return. Sounds a lot like a contract to me. At the very least, it's a solid rational basis for demonstrating one of the key requirements for a defamation case. Either way, it's utterly ridiculous to talk about liability and the "binding" nature of policies here. Regardless of legal obligation, they do have a clear moral/social obligation, and criticism of their failure to meet that is fully valid. | |
