But at the risk of mixing metaphors, even if everyone's goals are aligned and the garden is pointing in the right direction, the community itself is mostly just along for the ride. | |

What happened to "make the internet a better place"? or "build a high-quality knowledge-base in the form of Q&As"? or "help each other out when software docs are bad and maintainers are unresponsive" (or some analogous situation for non-software things)? In fact, that was what I was initially going to write an answer post about. But my thoughts took me down a different road. | |
