Dec 1, 2023 at 20:51 | comment | added | Kyle Pollard StaffMod | I plan on still supporting the thumbnail functionality and want to have the same behavior as the current thumbnail generation. My gut instinct is to just regenerate thumbnails on the fly with our new image service instead of storing the thumbnail version separately. If you have specific behavior you'd like preserved, would you mind editing your post to describe this behavior? I can't commit to anything yet, but it'll help me a ton.

I feel like the only real option is for Imgur to give Stack Exchange a complete copy of all images in the i.stack.imgur.com file store, complete with URLs, and for SE to host them byte-for-byte identically. I understand that's the current plan.

Nov 29, 2023 at 6:27 | comment | added | starball | I was thinking of asking this, but was too lazy :P thanks hehe. I've done exactly this in some of my posts. I'm hoping and guessing that this comment by Kyle in reply to a question by Catija implies that the answer is yes, it'll be preserved properly
