It isn't merely an experiment that SO's threshold is set to three, but a permanent feature. Other experiments aren't tracked here anyways.
Aug 18, 2020 at 17:54 history edited user313042 CC BY-SA 4.0
more sites than just SO have the threshold set at 50 close votes/day, better to track this elsewhere and link to it here if needed; Stack Apps has the threshold set at 12 close votes/day; more sites than just SO are experimenting with a lowered threshold for close votes, better to track it elsewhere

Aug 6, 2018 at 9:06 comment added Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog @MaskedMan Yes, I also believe that we should better communicate to new users that editing within five days will lead to the post being reviewed for reopening. There is a link in the closure notice that says to edit, but new users may assume that that does nothing. You should post a request about this.
Aug 6, 2018 at 9:03 comment added Masked Man @Sonic I have read that post years ago. Still doesn't answer the question of why "closed" is at all needed. There's nothing special about 5 days, posts can be improved any time. Also, 5 years later, it is still called "closed" everywhere else, and about that "welcoming new users" thing, there is absolutely nothing that makes it clear that editing the post may lead to reopening.
Aug 6, 2018 at 7:38 comment added Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog @MaskedMan For more info on why they implemented the system that way, see Every "close" has its thorn: replace "close" with "on hold" for the first five days.
Aug 6, 2018 at 7:35 comment added Masked Man @Sonic OK, so why not get rid of "closed" altogether? Also, remind me again, what is the comment automatically posted when a user casts a close vote with a custom reason? When the question is put "on hold", does the banner make it obvious to a "new user" that it can be reopened?

Aug 13, 2015 at 0:07 comment added ivan_pozdeev The only place I could find is a side note in meta.stackoverflow.com/a/300851/648265 though I can bet I saw this information before. My guess about Robert Harvey's motive for deleting is to not include information that's not very useful and very prone to becoming outdated.

Mar 22, 2014 at 14:10 comment added IMSoP A recent edit to this answer appears to have removed the entire section on "What if multiple close reasons are used on a question?" Was this deliberate? Was the text out of date? If so, what is the current answer to that question, which is still listed as belonging on this page?
