I found a question which i wanted to ask on stackoverflow, the questioner has commented the answer on question itself. Now i need a clarification on his/her comments, but as i dont have enough [reputation] to comment i cant comment there. So i posted my comments in answer field. Within a minute my post got deleted as it was obviously not an answer. But everybody suggested me to ask a new question and giving link to existing question. Is it a right way? Isnt it create duplicate question? I am new to asking questions in stackoverflow. So, please help.

But everybody suggested to me that I ask a new question with a link to the existing question. Is this the correct way? Won't that create duplicate question?
