If you're suggesting no-one should challenge the rules, then that implies you think the site is perfect. Do you? I don't. I think it's very good. It's often my first port-of-call. But there are aspects of it I don't like at all. For example, I hate that people can downvote without being recorded. I hate that people do downvote without admitting it and giving a reason. I find it cowardly to do it anonymously and unhelpful not to give a reason.
Thanks to everyone who replied. Frankly, I did take it to heart: I assumed that since it had been marked down so quickly and without comment that I'd either broken a rule or done something so stupid it was beneath contempt. I'll try to be more thick-skinned.
I don't understand the term 'onblur' - do you mean the thing that suggests similar questions? If so, in my case, it didn't find any similar questions. Once prompted, a manual search revealed lots, suggesting that the prompter isn't very accurate.
I agree. Even if people have written the same, they don't usually write it in the same way and often I've got what I wanted from combining one person's example with another's explanation.
