This answer is meant to document moderator tools and how they work, not to explain chat privileges - there's another FAQ for that (linked) and I've moved the content there. Harmonize the remaining heading. Also, mods can't delete chat profiles - I confirmed this with Mithical.

Not true. Per a recent staff post, the database table is rewritten using the tool. The original assertion came from a prior bug with search indexing that was fixed (post 333431)
